Managing keys — replace, re-test, write-only

Once a key is saved, Huntit never shows it back. The row displays a masked indicator (••••••••••••) instead — there's no reveal button, and no way to read a key out again.

That's nothing to work around. If you lose track of a key, generate a fresh one at the provider and paste that in; you never need the old value.

Everything else happens in Settings → Credentials: replace a key, re-test a stored one, and see when each was last confirmed.

Who can change a key

Changing keys is its own permission, granted to nobody by default, so it stays with the owner unless they hand it out. Roles and permissions covers how that's granted.

Everyone else still sees the panel and whether each provider is connected and working — they just can't paste anything into it.

Replacing a key

Click Replace on the provider's row, paste the new key, and save.

Huntit validates the new key before overwriting the stored one, so a typo can never replace a working key. If the new key fails its test, your existing key stays exactly as it was, and the explanation stays under the field until you start typing again.

Re-testing a stored key

Re-test re-runs the provider's full check against the key already saved, with nothing to paste.

Use it after you've fixed something on the provider's side — activated billing, upgraded a plan, bought credits — to confirm the fix landed. A verified re-test updates the "Last checked" time on the row, and what each pill means covers the states you might see instead.
