Account manager ≠ a permission

The account manager on a client is who receives that client's notifications, and nothing else. Not a role, not a permission, and it never grants or restricts access.

Everyone already sees every client — see roles and what each can do. The account manager only decides whose notification bell lights up for that client's events.

This is the single most misread idea in Huntit, so it is worth stating plainly: assigning a client to a teammate does not hand that client to them or hide it from anyone. It only routes the updates.

Why a teammate got "your" notification

If a profile you added just went ready and a colleague got the bell instead of you, that client is assigned to them as its account manager.

A profile finishing onboarding, the weekly winners digest, the monthly reports-ready digest — they all go to the client's manager, never to whoever performed the action.

Provider alerts are the exception. They also reach everyone who can manage your provider keys, by bell and by email, because those are the people who can act on them.

Changing who manages a client

You set the account manager when you add a client, by picking someone from your team roster, and you change it the same way — open the client, edit it, and pick a different member. It is a dropdown of real agency members, so you can only assign someone who has a seat.

One small example

Say John adds a competitor profile under a client that Sarah manages.

When that profile finishes collecting, the "profile ready" notification goes to Sarah, because she's that client's account manager — even though John did the work. Both can open the profile; only Sarah gets the bell.

To move those updates to John, change the client's account manager to him.

When a member is removed from the agency, any clients they managed are reassigned to the owner first, so no client is ever left without a manager.
