The notification bell and "What's new"

The bell in the sidebar collects the events that matter to the clients you manage, and each notification takes you straight to the thing it names.

It's a shortcut rather than a second copy of your data. The entity's own page always carries the live state — a profile's real status lives on its profile page.

Which events reach you at all is decided by the account manager on each client.

What rings it, in plain words

Every notification is one of a fixed set of types. Clicking one marks it read; most of them also land you where you can act on it:

  • A profile is ready, or couldn't collect its history — opens that profile's page.
  • A profile couldn't be added — the account is private, has never posted, or couldn't be read. This one opens nothing, because no profile was created; the message carries the whole answer.
  • This week's winners (a weekly digest across your clients) — opens the winners vault, filtered to the past week's wins.
  • Reports are ready (a digest naming your clients, after the 3rd) — opens the reports picker.
  • A provider alert for Apify, BrightData, Gemini, or a refused YouTube key — opens Settings → Credentials on that provider's row, where the fix lives. See The provider alert bells.
  • Your YouTube allowance ran out for the day — opens a reading window with what you can do about it. No key needs replacing.
  • Posts are about to age out — opens the feed showing exactly those posts, oldest first, so you can favorite or export them.
  • A tip from Huntit, or an announcement — opens a reading window with the full text.

You can clear everything at once with Mark all read.

A notification disappeared

The bell is a rolling window, not an archive, so notifications age out by design:

  • A read notification stays for about a month after you open it, then archives.
  • An unread one stays about three months, then archives as stale.

Nothing that matters is lost — go straight to the thing it was about, and the profile, report, or client page still carries the true current state.

Two other reasons a notification isn't where you expect it. If a teammate mentions one you never got, it routed to that client's account manager, not to everyone. And if one never arrived at all, the page it would have pointed to still carries the state — nothing about the work itself depends on the bell.

Announcements behave differently: they don't linger in the bell, but they never disappear either — every one is archived permanently in "What's new" below.

Muting, Slack, and Discord

There's no way to silence a notification type or a client — per-notification muting doesn't exist. Sending notifications out to Slack, Discord or other external tools isn't available either; those sit under "Coming soon" in Settings. The bell is where agency notifications live.

The line above every page

When something affects the whole service — a platform we can't collect from, for example — an amber line appears above every page while it lasts, and clears on its own.

"What's new" — the permanent announcements home

Announcements from Huntit have a durable home: "What's new", reached from the Help popover in the sidebar. It lists every announcement, newest first, and it never clears.

So a member who joins later still sees the full archive there, even though they never received the older announcements as bells. Retroactive bells aren't sent.
