Brands & creators — and the three types
A brand or creator sits between a client and the profiles you actually track.
You add one from the Add brand or creator form — a name and a type — and Huntit creates it in about a second. A competitor is simply a new brand under the same client.
The three types
Every brand carries a type — Client-owned, Competitor or Inspiration. All three are collected, calibrated and badged identically: the type never changes how Huntit tracks or measures a brand.
What it changes is how the brand is counted in reports. Client-owned and Competitor brands make up the competitive market: both count toward share of voice, and both feed the posting-hours read.
Inspiration brands sit outside that comparison, because you track them for ideas rather than to benchmark against. They read "not counted" in share of voice and stay out of the timing read — though their winners still get their own gallery.
- Client-owned — your client's own brand. Tracking it is what unlocks the "your brand versus the market" story in reports.
- Competitor — a brand your client competes with.
- Inspiration — a brand worth learning from, in or out of the category.
Add a brand from the generic Add button and there's no default type: you make a conscious pick, and the open list teaches the three. Add an own brand from the nudge on a client page and Client-owned is pre-selected for you.
The type is always changeable later from the brand's Edit modal — a default, never a lock. That same modal carries the brand's Tracking toggle; pausing a whole brand at once is covered in pausing tracking.
The brand image comes from its profiles
You won't upload a picture for a brand. Huntit shows the flagship profile's avatar — the profile with the most followers — and falls back to a simple monogram when there's no avatar yet.
A client's picture works the same way — an uploaded logo when there is one, otherwise the flagship avatar of its Client-owned brand.
After you add it
On success you land on the new Brand page, told you can now add profiles under it.
From there you add the profiles that do the actual tracking. Editing or removing a brand is covered in editing and removing.
